He was, in every sense, a Scottish Mans man. Tall, Broad undaunted by neither opinion or physical challenge. His very movement implying self confidence as he virtually dared all to question either his black leather eye patch or the full grown golden eagle perched on his shoulder.
He was a great piper, gamekeeper and sought after story teller who lost an eye in the 14-18 war and everyone in our town knew that he knew everything worth knowing about, everything.
He was Watt Nicoll’s boyhood hero… his Uncle Eck – The Toddy Man.
Watt inherited his many recipes, never missing a day’s work through sniff or maladies and now in his eighties, Watt is now known to grateful beneficiaries as the Toddy Man.
Neither chemist nor herbalist, Watt knows little of the sciences. He’s just an extremely grateful auld Scot still enjoying every day above ground
